The Design Studio

Nestled amongst the rolling hills of Sout Central Texas, west of Austin, reside a couple that have expanded their art interest into a successful glass business.  Each morning, with views of the rising sun breaking over the low ceder trees, basking their studio in a warm glow, Ron and Elaine begin their day bringing new life and experiences into their artwork.

Griffin Arts Glass Studio was established in 2001 by Ron and Elaine Griffin following rewarding careers in the design and management fields.  Both have particular talents in design and artwork.  Ron spent nearly 30 years designing complex structures within the United States and abroad, and Elaine has strong ties in the field of color and texture.  Both bring their past experience and future challenges into their work, the couple design pieces that range from the contemporary to art deco to trendy new wave.  Elaine has an acute sence of color which she has developed over the years, taken from interior design, landscaping and even cooking.  Glass is the medium in which she takes the greatest satisfaction, by composing a piece with deep rich colors and using various texturing techniques, she is able to create extreamly imaginative results.  Ron compiles pieces that are both inspiring and full of intrigue.  Togeather, they continue to create truly unique pieces of glass, and their reputation as top glass artists is expanding rapidly throughout the country.

Although the studio has been operating for only a few years, they find that working with fused glass quite rewarding and maintain that they will continue the work for several years to come (unless they win the lottery).  By using new and varried methods of composing and kiln firing, the interest and excitement is still there and continues to grow.
